Actress Jamie Ray Newman To Do Double Header on NCIS and GRIMM

It would seem actress Jamie Ray Newman is in high demand. Not only did she just complete a short-run on CSI:NY as the doomed wife of Det. Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise), but she will be appearing in two November sweeps episodes of the number one drama on TV: NCIS. In addition she will appear in an upcoming episode of Grimm.

According to TV Line, her role on NCIS will be that of Melanie Burke, a Navy Lieutenant Commander who is a chaplain at the Navy Yard. Her first appearance on the drama will be on November 8 when her character “meets the NCIS team and starts to work closely with them on the investigation a military plane crash”.

Then, she will appear as Angelina, one of the “Three Bad Wolves” in a November episode of Grimm, the new fairytale-based drama on NBC that will debut on Friday, October 28 at 9/8c.

TV viewers will recognize Newman from her roles on the short-lived series Eastwick as well as recurring roles on Eureka and Drop Dead Diva.

The next new episode of NCIS, now in its 9th season, will air tonight (October 18) at 8/7c.

CSI: NY Recruits General Hospital Alum to Play Mac’s Wife

After seven seasons of CSI: NY, viewers will finally meet Mrs. Mac Taylor.

Former General Hospital and Eastwick star Jaime Ray Newman has been tapped to play Claire Taylor, the wife Mac (Gary Sinise) lost during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. As we previously reported, Claire will appear in flashbacks during the show’s Season 8 premiere, which honors the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

“We’re taking all of our characters back to that day,” executive producer Pam Veasey tells us. “You get to see them together. You see why Claire loved Mac, and why Mac loved her.”

Veasey also hinted that Mac’s moments of reflection may offer him some inspiration to look for love again. “We’ve had a few women in the past pursue Mac,” she says. “We like the idea of maybe seeing Mac being the pursuer.”

Newman is best known for her work as Kristina Cassadine on General Hospital and the bewitching Kat Gardener on ABC’s short-lived Eastwick. She has also had recurring roles on such shows as Veronica Mars, Stargate Atlantis, Eureka, and, most recently, Drop Dead Diva.

CSI: NY returns Friday, Sept. 23 at 9/8c on CBS.

Jaime Ray Newman says Life Unexpected’s mystery woman is “not a homewrecker”

So far Life Unexpected fans have only gotten a hint at the mysterious new girl, Julia. We know she is someone from Ryan (Kerr Smith)’s past, and judging by the nice wedding gift she sent him, she may have something for which to atone. LA TV Insider Examiner was intrigued from the moment showrunner Liz Tigelaar warned us that after we meet her, we might not think Ryan is Mr. Perfect after all, so we set out to get the dish directly from the actress portraying her: Jaime Ray Newman.

“My first time on set, I spent the day in bed with Kerr,” Newman laughed during a phone interview last week. “She maybe thinks she can help heal him. They have this, like, undeniable chemistry– this undeniable attraction.”

Ex-Eastwick Star Shakes Up Life Unexpected’s Second Season

Some screwy witch is messing with LUX‘s resident newlyweds—a witchy woman, that is.

The ridiculously cute Jamie Ray Newman, star of last fall’s Eastwick, is set to stir up all sorts of trouble in Life Unexpected‘s second season, show reps confirm to us exclusively. Even better, we’ve got loads of details on the homewrecking hottie from LUX‘s show runner extraordinaire, Liz Tigelaar…

Before you freak out, the arrival of Newman’s character does not mean that Ryan (Kerr Smith) and Cate (Shiri Appleby) are over, not by a long shot. But once you tune into Monday’s season premiere, you get the idea that things are not all sunshine and rainbows between the two—especially when Ryan gets a mysterious phone call from a “Julia,” and the audience is privy to a one-sided convo that goes something along the lines of: “Don’t worry. Everything’s fine. Cate has no idea.” Hmph. We don’t like it. But it does create a slot for Jamie on LUX, so it’s a good thing, right?!

“We’re so excited Jamie’s playing Julia,” Liz gushes. “She’s really, really good.” Just don’t expect to see the starlet right of the bat; it’s a slow burn before Jamie’s “other woman” makes her debut.

Explains Liz: “We [introduce] Julia in the premiere, and then we let Cate and Ryan go on with their lives for a little bit. But her name starts coming up again, and Cate’s confused about who this person is. We’ll actually see some flashbacks of who this person is, and how she knows Ryan.”

“Julia’s a person who was an integral person in Ryan’s past,” Liz teases. “He’s moved on and is with Cate, but in the course of season one she reappeared and there are repercussions of that. She’s definitely lightly threaded into the first 13, and if we get a back nine, she’ll be back. She be a character who’s going to stir some stuff up for them.”

And now the important question: Is Ryan not really the wonderful, perfect guy we thought he was? “Ryan is as a great as we think he is,” Liz tells us, defending him, “it’s just that he is human.”
